For most of us, organizing email is a dream more than reality. I recommend one clever trick for all homeowners: set an email address just for your home.
Why do you need a digital home your Physical house
For the past five months, I have sold the house I lived in for the past 17 years and bought a temporary housing where I lived until a new house was built. This is a continuous flow of details for three homes, including utility bills, repair invoices, home inspection reports, insurance invoices, cable and internet invoices, and landscaping services.
Even if you’ve lived in the same house for years, your email can be piled up. Creating a home-only email account allows you to manage and track all these messages without losing anything in the ocean in your main inbox.
We encourage you to share your private home email address with others in your family. You and your spouse can manage the message without bothering each other to forward this or it.
If you need more convincing, we encourage you to use this email to set up streaming services, Pinterest, grocery delivery, and other home-related accounts.
Email tip: 10 hidden Gmail features to use
Set your home email address
There are two ways. You can use your login information to create a new email account or create an alias account associated with your main email address.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but it’s easiest to use an alias account. You can set up one (or multiple folders) to bring all email sent to this account into your primary inbox.
This is a nifty trick.
- To create an alias in Gmail, simply add a plus sign and a word or phrase to your main email address. It should look like johndoe + home@gmail.com.
- Now you can set up a folder (Gmail calls these labels) and shuttle mail to that address in one place. Method is as follows.
- In the search box at the top, Show search option icon..
- [宛先]Enter your new home email address alias in the field and click[Create a filter..
- Select what you want the filter to do.select Skip inbox If you want to skip these emails from your main inbox and only view them in a special folder. You can also choose Apply Label> New Label Create a new folder to send the message.
- click Create a filter It’s over.
This only affects new mail that arrives in your inbox and does not apply retroactively. That leads to the next step.
Cleanup: 5 tricks to use to check your inbox
Start organizing in a quick and easy way
Next, organize the emails you already have so that you can apply the label created above. It will put your home message in one place. If you choose to create a new account instead, you can start forwarding old messages from there.
Search your inbox and label related emails with your new home email address. This also allows you to delete things you no longer need.
If you regularly receive home-related messages from specific senders, you do not need to send them an email. It’s easier to set up automatic forwarding for specific contacts and send those messages to your new inbox or label.
Here’s how to use filters in Gmail to set up automatic contact forwarding:
- Open the Gmail account from which you want to forward the message.
- click Checkbox Click next to the required email and click 3 dots It’s at the top of the page.
- click Filter such messages..Make sure the sender’s address is at from Field.

- Enter the address of your new home inbox, Nextafter that Continue..
- You need to see the transfer request in your inbox.
If you want to use Outlook instead, follow these steps:

- Move to setting >> >> Show all Outlook settings..
- select Post >> >> rule >> >> Add a new rule..
