A California woman who jumped to her death with her baby in her arms became increasingly paranoid and paranoid in the days leading up to her murder-suicide, the baby’s father says.
Raquel Wilkins, 40, jumped off a wall at Petco Park baseball field in September 2021, killing both her and her 2-year-old, Denzel Browning-Wilkins. Christopher Browning, her boyfriend and Denzel’s father, says his girlfriend was not feeling well in the days leading up to his death.
According to Browning, Wilkins commented twice on the height required for a fall to be fatal. For the record, she also searched the Internet for “easy suicide” and “methods of suicide,” according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
“To honor Denzel and her is to be really honest,” Browning told the outlet. “And to grieve in a healthy way, you have to honor the truth.”

He said Wilkins’ death was “very premeditated” and “very intentional” and that his girlfriend was driving “further and further away from reality” at the time.

Browning said Wilkins was looking directly at him when he threw her and Denzel off a ledge on the second deck at a park hosting a San Diego Padres game.
Wilkins’ family has denied police’s determination that the incident was a murder-suicide, with some witnesses claiming that the woman appeared to have fallen accidentally.
One witness says he saw Wilkins climb onto a stadium picnic table before turning away. I reached out and tried to grab the railing of the stadium.
Other witnesses state that Wilkins approached the railing, threw his leg over it, and intentionally threw himself off the ledge.
Browning says Wilkins commented on the fatal fall twice in the hours leading up to her and their child’s death. And then in the stadium again.

An autopsy revealed that Wilkins suffered from depression and anxiety prior to his death.
