A former Texas state police officer recently hired by the Uvalde School District in response to the May 24 Robb Elementary School shooting was fired from her new job on Thursday, officials said.
In a statement, the Uvalde School District said it was “deeply distressed by the information that came to light last night regarding one of our recently hired employees, Crimson Elizondo.”
“We sincerely apologize to the victim’s family and the Uvalde community for the pain this fact has caused.”
Elizondo is one of several state troopers under investigation for their response to the shooting that killed 19 children and two adults.

The police response has come under intense scrutiny in recent months. The Texas House Task Force revealed in July that it took officers more than 70 minutes to confront the shooter, even though he arrived at the scene within minutes.
About 400 law enforcement officers, including Elizondo, responded to the school on May 24.

The only other police officer who responded that day was former Uvalde School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo.
