According to the National Guard, Texas National Guard supporting Operation Lone Star died last week in a “non-mission-related incident.”
Sgt. Alex Rios Rodriguez, 52, from San Antonio, Texas, died last Thursday in a “non-mission-related incident in his dormitory in McAllen, Texas.” Said in the release..
Rodriguez received emergency treatment at the unit’s hotel, and rescuers were unable to revive him, guards said. Investigations into his death are underway.
Guards said Rodriguez was appointed as Delta’s team leader, the 536th Brigade Support Battalion, the 72nd Brigade Combat Team, and the 36th Infantry Division.

“Our heartfelt condolences are directed at Sergeant Rios Rodriguez’s family,” Texas Deputy General Thomas Suelzer said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this difficult time.”
