Texas officials have identified and arrested seven dog owners who allegedly killed a 71-year-old man while walking to a nearby store earlier this month.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Samuel Cartwright, 47, on Friday in connection with the death of 71-year-old Freddy Garcia.
Garcia was fatally attacked on July 18 by seven dogs, all determined to be pitbull mixes, while walking to a nearby store in Fresno, Texas.
Authorities responded to the scene, and Garcia was airlifted to a hospital in the Houston area and died in an attack wound.

The Sheriff’s Office, along with Fort Bend Animal Control and Fort Bend County District Law Firm, conducted an investigation that determined Cartwright to be the owner of the dog involved in the attack. Since then, all seven dogs have been captured by the sheriff’s office and the Animal Care Department.
Cartwright remained in detention in Fort Bend County Prison and was charged with a dog bite, resulting in two felony deaths. His deposit is set at $ 100,000.
