The Republican Secretary of State in Tennessee was arrested Friday night on suspicion of drunk driving after leaving the music festival.
“On Friday night after leaving the Bonnaroo Music Festival, I was stopped by the Tarahomma police station and then arrested for drunk driving.” Secretary of State of Tennessee Tre Harget said in a statement. “Drunk driving is a serious problem and I regret the situation that led to my arrest. I respect law enforcement and trust the legal process of moving forward.”
According to prison records, Harget was detained in Coffee County Jail after midnight on Saturday and released a few hours later.
Herget is scheduled to appear in court on July 14, WKRN-TV reported.

Herget served at the General Assembly for 10 years before overseeing the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. According to the Secretary of State’s website, he was elected Secretary of State in 2009 and was reelected in 2013, 2017, and 2021. Hargett is the Department of State’s Chief Executive Officer and oversees more than 300 employees.
Hargett’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment from FoxNews Digital.

The Bonnaroo Music Festival, which has been held annually since 2002, starts on Thursday and ends on Tuesday.
The musical act that will be performed at the festival is J. Includes Cole, Tools, 21 Savage, Robert Plant, Griffin.
Bonnaroo Music Festival representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment from FoxNews Digital.
