One person was killed and dozens injured after parts of a temporary concert stage collapsed in strong winds at an open-air music festival in eastern Spain on Saturday.
The Valencia Regional Ambulance Service said part of the stage structure for the Medusa Festival was blown away by a “strong gust of wind” around 4 a.m. local time. About 40 people were taken to hospital, including three seriously injured.

“We are completely devastated and saddened by what happened this morning,” organizers said on the festival’s Facebook page.

Medusa Festival is a six-day electronic music festival in Cullera, Spain.
Festival organizers said in a statement that they had ordered the concert venue to be cleared when the wind picked up.

“This is a horrific accident that has taken us all by surprise,” Simo Puig, Valencia’s regional president, wrote on Twitter.
