Shelter orders have been issued in cities in West Virginia after officials reported a “mild chemical incident” early Thursday morning.
The order, which was issued around 6:20 a.m. in South Charleston, was lifted about 35 minutes later, Kanawha County officials said.
West Virginia Metro News reported that county officials said a 30-gallon barrel of chlorinated material leaked at the Cuaron plant, creating a haze and odor.
The South Charleston Fire Department responded to the scene.
