Philadelphia firefighters died when the building collapsed early Saturday morning, fire department officials said.
Four firefighters and one inspector were pulled out of the rubble and taken to Temple University Hospital.
Firefighters were first dispatched at 1:53 am due to a “normal” fire. Before the flames went out, the incident proceeded to a call for “all hands-in service.”
At 3:24 am, the building “completely collapsed” and six respondents were trapped.

The firefighters killed were 27-year-old veterans, officials said in a briefing. His name has not yet been announced.

Fire department officials called it a “sad day” for the fire department and described the collapse as a “catastrophic accident.”
