While an 8-year-old Philadelphia girl battled alopecia, a medical condition that causes hair loss, seeing her strength and resilience prompted her family to shave her head.
Savannah Brown and her family joined Fox 29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” earlier in the week to discuss her journey and the heartwarming support from her loved ones.
Brown’s mother, Ruqaiya Kaiyim, said her daughter was diagnosed with alopecia two months ago. cause hair loss.

To support Braun’s bravery in losing his hair, his mother, father, grandmother, and aunt shaved their heads.
“It was like ‘OMG.’ I have an amazing family that supports me in a really great way,” Savannah said on the show. “Not many moms do that. My mom. is special to me, really special.โ
Brown’s father, Stephen Mack, explained that he shaved his head to support his young daughter, but also to challenge what society considered beautiful.
“It helped Savannah realize that true beauty is designed by her character,” he said.
FDA-approved hair loss treatment
While the family was on “Good Day Philadelphia,” Brown’s great aunt Monica Gibson decided to shave her head on live TV as a public display of support.
