New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Sunday slammed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott after a second bus full of illegal immigrants arrived at his doorstep.
Adams held a press conference at Port Authority on Sunday morning to greet an incoming bus with about 40 immigrants, only 14 of whom disembarked in the Big Apple.
“Considering what the governor is doing, this is terrifying,” Adams said, noting that many of the arriving families were unaware they were coming to New York City.
“It turns out that some of the family were on the bus because they wanted to go somewhere else, but they weren’t allowed to do so,” the mayor said. “They were forced onto the bus knowing they were going somewhere else they wanted to go, and when they tried to explain, they weren’t allowed to do so.”

His comments follow the first arrival of about 50 migrants at the New York City Port Authority on Friday. The bus arrived on the orders of Governor Abbott, who is transporting border crossers to liberal cities to draw attention to his state’s illegal immigration problem.
Mayor Adams accused the governor of using innocent people “as political pawns to create a crisis.”
On Sunday, he complained that Abbott’s administration hadn’t given New York City adequate warning about when immigrants would arrive.

“They don’t let us know when the buses leave. They don’t let us know the needs of the people on the buses,” Adams said. “They haven’t provided us with any information, so we can’t actually serve people who are traveling.”
Abbott has also been sending illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C. since April to protest the Biden administration’s refusal to address the border crisis plaguing Texas.
