Kirby explained that the United States has “publicly made it very clear that it is unacceptable to change the status quo” and that “we will not allow it” or “will not comply”.

The drone incident occurred in the Kinmen Islands, a Taiwan-owned region just nine miles off the coast of China. The drone returned to the nearby city of Xiamen after Taiwanese soldiers spotted it hovering over the island and fired warning shots, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
According to a Taiwanese military statement, the drones are for “civilian use.”
