When the ship ignited on Saturday afternoon, three and two dogs had to jump from a 70-foot yacht onto the Piscataqua River in New Hampshire.
All three passengers were taken to a local hospital and released after being treated. According to New Hampshire police, their dogs are also “safe and healthy.”
The boat, Elusive, was heading to Wentworth Marina in Newcastle when one of the passengers saw black smoke under the deck around 4 pm.

New Hampshire police marine patrols, the Coast Guard, and other agencies responded to the scene and attempted to save the yacht, but the tide broke out of the harbor and sank within two hours of firing.
According to the Coast Guard, good Samaritans were also involved in the rescue operation after the passengers jumped outboard.

It is unknown how the fire started. A photo posted online by law enforcement showed a thick black smoke swirling from a ship, which appeared to be completely in flames.
