A US postal worker in Maryland was robbed at knifepoint in front of a $3 million home earlier this week, police said.
WJLA-TV reports that Montgomery County police said Tuesday afternoon they were summoned to an upmarket neighborhood just northwest of the Washington, D.C. area and said a man in his 20s used a knife to rob a postal worker of his personal belongings. .
Officials from the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) also responded to the inquiry.
Authorities said the suspect did not steal any mail or USPS property and then fled the scene in a gray sedan.

Susan Murray, a resident of the neighborhood where the robbery took place, described the suspect as “pretty brazen”.

According to the report, Murray said, “We have a lot of people in our neighborhood who have been involved in letter theft. We have neighbors who have had tens of thousands of checks stolen.”

Murray said checks totaling $7,000 were stolen from her and he was personally affected by the robbery.

It is difficult to recover the money, she said.
“So if you go to the post office, they will say, ‘Go to the police station.’ And if you go to the police station, they will say, ‘No, it’s not us.
