Caitlin Armstrong, the Texas cyclist murder suspect, returned to court on Monday for a pre-trial hearing.
Armstrong is accused of shooting gravel cycling star Anna Moria “Mo” Wilson. Investigators said Armstrong’s live-in boyfriend, Colin, was seen as a romantic rival who dated Strickland and another professional rider, investigators claim.

After a ruckus over an unrelated warrant used by Austin police to detain Armstrong shortly after her murder, she was not read Miranda’s rights. Police continued to interrogate her despite asking for help and seeking a lawyer.

The interview was later cited by detectives on an affidavit seeking a warrant for her arrest on murder charges.
Testifying at Monday’s pretrial hearing was former Plano Police Lt. Douglas Deaton, an expert witness for the defense who previously signed an affidavit denouncing the warrant.
In court, he called the affidavit “the assassination of a borderline person.” According to FOX 7 Austin, He argued that it showed the detective’s inexperience.
Armstrong is scheduled to appear in court on November 9th.

According to court filings, Armstrong’s boyfriend Strickland repeatedly told detectives that he didn’t think she shot Wilson and that he didn’t think she was the jealous or violent type.
