Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid has praised the Biden administration after US airstrikes targeted “Iran-related” sites in Syria overnight.
“We welcome the US attack on Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria,” Rapid told Fox News. “Last night’s US attack was an important step in the fight against terrorism.”
The US military action was taken in response to a drone attack on a base housing US forces.
“The attack demonstrates our determination to protect U.S. forces and equipment,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

The move highlights the regional threat Iran poses, targeting the United States and its allies across the Middle East.
Israel has stepped up its opposition to a new nuclear deal, which could take days to be signed.
Speaking in Jerusalem this morning, Rapid said sanctions relief could lead directly to funding Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies.
“The deal currently being negotiated is bad. It will give Iran $100 billion a year,” Rapid said. “It will fund further attacks on US military bases in the Middle East.”
A US official today responded to Iran’s comments on the JCPOA negotiations, which are currently under review in Tehran, according to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Another meeting of the Joint Committee to oversee discussions is scheduled next week after the exchange of technical details.

All parties appear to have conceded and Iran is no longer demanding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps be removed from the US list of foreign terrorist organizations.
“I have made it clear that I oppose the removal of the IRGC from the list of foreign terrorists,” Rapid told Fox News.
