Dane Partridge, an Idaho father and U.S. Army veteran, died this week while “fighting for freedom in Ukraine,” his family announced.
His father, Denise Partridge, wrote on Facebook on Saturday that his son was in a coma after being seriously injured in a Russian tank explosion.
Partridge is being treated at a military hospital in Kyiv and was taken off life support on Tuesday, his family said.

Documenting her trip to Ukraine on social media, Partridge wrote that she landed in Germany on April 26, left for Poland the next day, and arrived in Ukraine in late April.
Posting on public social media ended at that point for operational and security reasons, but his sister said he would message her from time to time, saying, “His kids and wife are doing something violent.” He wrote that he had informed her that he had missed something.

“I know his soul has found peace,” his sister, Jenny Partridge-Colley, wrote in a tribute.
“He was always joking, witty jokes and sometimes serious conversations. He remained true to his faith and spiritual convictions until the day he died.”
