A Florida man was found guilty of raping, kidnapping and attempted murder of his ex-wife after abruptly firing his lawyer, allowing him to cross-examine her in a move that proved unpopular with jurors. I made it.
On Friday, it took the committee just under five hours to convict 45-year-old Trevor Summers on all 11 counts.
In a surprise twist, Summers last week took ex-wife Alisa Mathewson hostage, tied her up, and sexually assaulted her… intending to die.
“Did you threaten to have sex?” Summers asked Mathewson, who shares five children with him, during cross-examination in Hillsborough County Circuit Court in Tampa.

“You broke into my house in the middle of the night while I was sleeping, assaulted me, and tied me up. Yes, I think I threatened to have sex with you. You forced me to have sex with you.” I did,” he said, clearly distraught. “You raped me!”
Summers said calmly, “So you call it rape?”
“That’s the definition of rape!” Matthewson countered.
Summers conspired to commit murder-suicide after learning that Matthewson had begun dating another man in the midst of a bitter divorce. kicked out the children and tied Matthewson up with Christmas lights.
She testified that he raped her twice, choked her with a pillow until she lost consciousness, and strangled her with a rope, despite a protective order prohibiting all contact.
While she was tied up, Matthewson took her to many counties in Florida. I cried. However, she testified that Summers dragged her back to her car and cut off one of her wrists as her punishment.
The perverse father wrote his children a goodbye letter, promising that mom and dad were “watching over you from heaven,” but the police loomed before he could carry out his sick plans.
The most egregious witness to the case may have been Summers himself, who recorded a video confessing to the crime that was played for the jury in court.
