Climate activists gathered outside the ballpark an hour before Thursday’s game. After chanting and dancing, protesters marched toward Nationals Park and blocked spectators from entering the entrance before three were arrested for trespassing.

“We are all on the brink of extinction,” Paul, another climate activist, told Fox News. “It will be a catastrophe. Billions of people will suffer.” And Congress and the President have done very little, even with this bill they just announced.”

Manchin on Wednesday announced an agreement on a settlement package that would spend $369 billion on climate initiatives while raising $739 billion through additional corporate taxes and tougher IRS enforcement.Manchin and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the initiative will reduce carbon pollution by about 40% by 2030.

But protesters were not satisfied.
One protester said, “It’s a good start, but we need more and better laws to really protect the Indigenous Peoples and the BIPOC community.
“The Manchin deal is not enough. We don’t need fossil fuels anymore,” climate activists said.
