Police in the US Capitol arrested a 26-year-old man who allegedly had two Molotov cocktails near Union Station in Washington, DC, on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The suspect, identified as Bernard L. McCutcheon, allegedly tried to escape when the policeman approached around 3:30 pm, throwing one of the unlit cocktails at the policeman and dropping the other. I am.
“Both of our officers were treated for minor injuries,” said Shaun Gallagher, deputy police chief of the unified operation, in a statement. “Thankfully, they’ll be fine. I’m definitely grateful for their swift action to keep the community safer.”
McCatchon was charged with two assaults on police officers, one possession of Molotov cocktails, and one assault with deadly weapons.

According to police, the cocktail was made from tequila bottles filled with socks and oil-based accelerators.

Police said the suspect did not appear to be protesting or targeting the Capitol or members of the House of Representatives.
