Officials said the California border guard rescued 11 lost illegal immigrants in the mountains just north of the US-Mexico border on Saturday.
According to the US Customs and Border Protection, El Centro Station was notified of a 911 call from immigrants at around 12:20 am and went missing with a group of 10 people and said it needed help.
Agents on the scene responded to the last known GPS coordinates on the phone and found an immigrant lost just before 1:30 am, one mile north of the US-Mexico border in the Jakunba Wilderness area of Imperial County.
No one in the group needed treatment.

According to CBP, the agents have determined that all 11 are Nicaraguan nationals and are illegally in the country. All 11 migrants were detained.
The rescue will take place a few days after El Centro’s border patrol agent has sought help from 911 and rescued 16 illegal immigrants in the same area.
Border guards have rescued 264 individuals lost, suffering or abandoned by smugglers since October, officials said.
Meanwhile, DHS sources told Fox News on Monday that more than 500,000 known “fugitives” have sneaked into the United States since the 2022 fiscal year began in October.
The Biden administration has repeatedly claimed that the border is under “closed,” “safety,” and “operational control,” despite the increasing number of immigrants overwhelming the border.
