Residents of an apartment building in Morrisania’s Bronx neighborhood say teenage gangs have been terrorizing them in recent months, according to local reports.
Nydia Carrero, 63, a resident of her East 169th Street apartment, told WABC that the group recently attacked her.
“They were kicking me in the side, kicking me on the side, punching me in the back and trying to grab my face,” she told the local news outlet.

Crime surged across the Bronx in 2022, with a 43.4% increase in robberies, a 23% increase in felonies, and a 38.3% increase in robberies compared to the same period in 2021, according to NYPD data.
Victor Gonzalez, 60, another resident of the Bronx apartment, told WABC the problem was only getting worse.
“It’s a shame,” Gonzalez told the local news outlet. “They say they’re going to come back and burn down the building. It’s ridiculous.”
