Two Australian men have been charged with throwing potatoes at an electric scooter rider, leaving one blind in one eye.
Trent Phillip Green, 19, and Brandon John Nutu Missikoy, 20, are facing multiple charges, including causing serious injury, news.com.au reported.
At around 9:30 a.m. on May 20, the attack allegedly took place in the city of Trigg, Perth. Potatoes were allegedly shot or thrown at people by passing cars.
A 28-year-old man suffered multiple injuries, including a broken arm and facial injuries, and needed surgery to remove an eye, police said.

Greene and Missicoy appeared in Perth Magistrate’s Court on Friday.Neither entered the plea, according to the outlet.
The two men were arrested last week following a police investigation that included providing information to the public.
Lieutenant Brett Baddock said police determined the “dangerous act” was planned and not directed at a specific person.

According to news.com.au, Baddock said, “Those involved thought it would be fun to use the potato as a projectile aimed at people who care about their business and enjoy the coastal strip. It seems,โ he said.
“This so-called fun ended in tragedy when the victim lost an eye,” he continued.
In addition to the grievous bodily injury charge, Greene faces one count of conduct likely to endanger the life, health or safety of any person, and possession of a prohibited weapon. .

Meanwhile, Micicoi was charged with one count of conduct that may endanger the life, health, or safety of a person and three counts of general assault.
The case will return to court next month.
