Austin police arrested a 29-year-old man who escaped from a state mental hospital two weeks ago. He lived after being acquitted for the madness that killed his father in 2014.
Alexander Irvin was arrested and booked at Travis County Prison, about 300 miles south of North Texas State Hospital, where he fled on June 26.
Vernon police said Irvine left the dormitory on the night of the escape and stripped the fence.
His mother, Leslie Irvine, told KEYE that she was found near an apartment owned by her son in Austin and was looking for her.
“The spectators called the police for fear of heat stroke. Rex was peacefully arrested. When he arrived in jail, he asked for new clothes and told the police that he had come to Austin looking for me.” She told the local press. “I don’t know how her son was able to leave the sleeping area and not only get out of the locked building, but also out of the facility with razor wires and guards on a 15-foot fence. Hmm.”

Irvine had an episode of mental illness when the prosecutor said he had killed him by attacking his father with a pipe wrench and knife in 2013.
“Alex told his brother in a robotic tone that he was an agent of the CIA and had done this many times before. He also pointed to Ray,” that guy, “of theirs. He told Max that he was a scammer rather than his father. Chavez, a former assistant district attorney in Travis County who charged the Mark case, wrote in the 2015 edition of the Texas Prosecutor.
