Armenian authorities have ordered the evacuation of the country’s capital Yerevan following the threat of a massive bomb on Sunday.
The bomb threat came just hours after an explosion rocked a downtown marketplace and killed at least one person. Armenian media have reportedly received bomb threats against all metro lines in the city, major military and civilian installations, shopping centres, the city’s zoo and the Church of St. Grigor Rusavolić.
The city police have ordered a mass evacuation following the reported threats.
It is unclear whether the explosion at Surmal market earlier Sunday was related to the threat. I haven’t clarified how.

At least one person was killed and 20 injured in a market explosion. Emergency responders at the scene said many people were trapped under the debris.

Bomb threats in Armenia are relatively frequent, with similar evacuations reported in July and April.
