A school resource officer in Alabama was in tears after his mother sent him a letter thanking him for rescuing her daughter in 2013 from armed men who took the girl and four others hostage at the school. It is said that it has flowed.
“I cried tears when I received the letter. It touched me deeply,” Shelby County Lieutenant Governor David Morrow told WBMA.
Morrow received a letter from Deanna O’Neill in June thanking him for rescuing her daughter from an armed hostage situation in the locker room at Chelsea Middle School in 2013.
“After seeing how the Yuvalde tragedy unfolded, I wanted to let you know how grateful I am that you didn’t hesitate to run into the locker room for those girls. O’Neill wrote Morrow, according to a photo of the letter posted by the Sheriff’s Office.

O’Neill wrote the letter after his daughter graduated from the University of Alabama.
Armed with a gun, Ryan Matthew Sims broke into a middle school locker room in 2013 and took five girls hostage. Morrow told WBMA that he and the school’s principal ran to the locker room and confronted Sims, a former student and part-time employee, to defuse the situation.

“That man, [Sims] Remembered me as his SRO that day. I was able to speak to him with the principal,” Morrow told the outlet.
Morrow’s friend James Spann, who is also the WBMA’s chief meteorologist, said the SRO’s “action that day at Chelsea in 2013 was absolutely heroic” and Morrow “didn’t want to draw attention to this. ” he added.
Morrow said that “many players” “did the right thing” on that dreadful day and that he was able to end the situation without anyone getting hurt.
According to the outlet, Sims is being held in a mental health facility.

The sheriff’s office also praised Morrow’s heroism on Facebook while praising the importance of the SRO.
