Two Indiana State University football players were among three students who were set ablaze in a car accident last weekend, officials said Monday.
At least three people were killed and two others injured in a shipwreck near a campus in Riley, Indiana, on Sunday. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office lists the deceased victims as Caleb Van Hooser, 19, of Liberty Township, Ohio; Christian Eubanks, 18, of Waukegan, Illinois; and Jaden Musiri, 19, of Fort Wayne. identified. VanHooser and Eubanks were members of the Indiana State football team.
Dr. Deborah J. Curtis, president of Indiana State University, said in a statement: “We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the students involved. The Sycamore family is devastated and we support each other during this time of grief.”

Omarion Dixon and John Moore – both footballers – were injured in the collision.They were released from intensive care but were in serious condition, the school said.
In a statement, Indiana State University track and field coach Sherard Klinkscales said: “My heart breaks for the loss of these three souls. are very difficult to understand. They will always be remembered.My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to their respective families.”

Indiana State football coach Kurt Mallory added: To say they have passed away is an understatement. Our continued prayers and support are with their families, friends and teammates during this difficult time.
WTHR-TV said the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, and investigators determined the car hit a tree and all five caught fire inside. Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said the three victims could not be saved.

The football team did not practice on Monday. Students were encouraged to use counseling services as needed.
