Approximately 56,000 Jynneos monkeypox vaccines are currently being sent to clinics across the United States, with an additional 240,000 scheduled to be sent within a few weeks, the Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday.

The Jynneos vaccine should be given twice at 4-week intervals. There are 100 million doses of the old ACAM2000 vaccine in the United States, but they are not recommended for everyone because of the potential for serious side effects.

The CDC also said on Tuesday that it would activate the emergency operations center in response to the outbreak.
