Coco Gauff’s U.S. Open ended Tuesday night as she lost to Caroline Garcia in the quarterfinals at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 18-year-old American Gauff fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 after France’s Garcia didn’t give him room to breathe in the match. In fact, Garcia has yet to drop a set in the tournament.

Garcia, ranked 17th in the world and 12th behind Gauff, extends his winning streak to 13 matches and faces a real threat in the semifinals against fifth-ranked Ons Jabbar. Jabbar beat Arya Tomljanovic, who beat Serena Williams in what could be the last match of her career, early Tuesday.

If Gauff has any consolation, she has earned a top 10 placement in the world after her 2022 Grand Slam schedule.
But if Gauff wins, he will become the youngest player since Williams to reach the US Open semifinals. She won her Grand Slam in 1999, when she was 17 years old.

Garcia became the first French woman to reach the semi-finals of a Grand Slam since Marion Bartoli at Wimbledon in 2013.
