Former President Donald Trump took a winning lap on social media after Wyoming’s congressional candidate Harriet Hegemann defeated Rep. Liz Cheney in the state’s Republican primary.
In a series of posts, Trump lauded the “very decisive victory” and accused Cheney of being “mean” and an “idiot.” He also thanked voters in Wyoming for a “very decisive victory.”
“Congratulations to Harriet Hageman for celebrating her great and very decisive victory in Wyoming,” Trump wrote to TRUTH Social shortly after the race was called. It’s a complete denunciation of political hacks and a no-choice committee of thugs.”
The former president also made some comments specifically aimed at Cheney.

“Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself, her actions, and her malicious and sacred words and actions towards others,” Trump said. “Now she can finally disappear into the depths of political oblivion.” , I’m sure she will be much happier than she is now.”

Hours later, Trump commented on Cheney’s concession speech, comparing himself to former President Abraham Lincoln and hinting at a possible run for president.
“Liz Cheney’s unimpressive concession speech to a large crowd in Wyoming showed that the 2020 presidential election was not fraudulently stolen despite massive and overwhelming evidence to the contrary. “The fact that in many states many election changes were not approved by the state legislatures has been countless. Absolutely necessary, Liz Cheney is an idiot in the hands of those who want to destroy our country!”

Closing his remarks, Trump called the primary vote a “referendum” by voters who opposed Cheney and her anti-Trump words and actions.
“With the much greater loss of Liz Cheney than previously anticipated, do you think the Jan. 6 Board of Political Hacks and Thugs will begin the beautiful process of dissolution soon? It was a referendum on no witch hunts.People spoke!” the former president wrote.

In Cheney’s concession speech, she alluded to a possible White House bid that could put the Republicans in a preliminary run against Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
In his post-election remarks, Cheney said, “Now is the time for the real work to begin,” and that Abraham Lincoln lost the election to Congress before he was elected president.
