As the story of national prosperity progresses, the 1992 US Olympic men’s basketball consortium, known as the “Dream Team,” was one of the most shamelessly devised. How did America maintain its supremacy when the time came? Blitz them with the cream of the crop. This strategy was not foolproof. A humiliating defeat against Argentina in 2004 robbed the US of gold. This aggression is intolerable.
The Redeem Team, a documentary about the 2008 squad tasked with returning the Americans to the top spot, is wise not to leave viewers feeling too bad for the 2004 group.Pepe Sanchez, Argentina After the game, the player said: He plays 5-on-5 instead of 1-on-1. ”
In charge of running the 2008 season is Duke coach Mike Krzyszewski, a man both respected and despised (as team member LeBron James puts it bluntly: “Inner City. I grew up with Duke, so I hate Duke”). Krzyzewski makes teamwork of A top priority, he sticks to it, even when he brings Kobe Bryant, a notorious loner at the time, on board.
Directed by John Weinbach, the film offers some eye-popping mini-stories leading up to the rematch with Argentina. Doug Collins, a member of the US team in 1972, tells the 2008 players about his painful experiences with a game that was probably stolen by the Soviet Union. Bryant relieves his old friend Pau Gasol, a member of the Spanish squad, and performs a shocking “who’s the boss” move on the court. Argentinian ace shooter Manu His Ginobili’s intimidating presence raises no small amount of concern. A realistic observer of American sports wouldn’t call this movie moving, but these sequences are definitely engrossing.
