New York Giants star Sakwon Barkley is the face of the next generation of great running backs to play in the franchise. On Monday night, he witnessed some others join the Ring of Honor.
Joe Morris, Ottis Anderson and Rodney Hampton were inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor at MetLife Stadium.
All are the greatest running backs in franchise history, and three have Super Bowl rings.
Already one of the most prolific running backs in Giants history, Barkley has 3,254 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns in his career. He said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital that he hopes to be honored in the same way once his career is over.

“When I see them all when I’m warming up, and when I see them on the sidelines, I want to be where they are. Those are the goals you set,” Barkley said. That’s what you want to achieve, and if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t be who we are today.
“You definitely try to go out there and play hard and applaud them, but at the same time you see what they have achieved and what they have done and what they recognize in the Ring of Honor. It’s somewhere in you.I especially want to be a player entering my fifth year in New York.That’s what I’m trying to achieve in my career.

At just 25, Berkley didn’t grow up watching Morris, Anderson and Hampton. But as he studied the history of the Giants and the running back position, he found out about them. I got
“All of them. But I strongly believe we need to know the history of the team, especially the position I’m playing,” he told Fox News Digital. I did all the research when I was a kid. It’s so cool to meet them and see them honor the Ring of Honor. Like I said, it’s something I strive for is to be.”
The Giants are 2-1 going into Week 4.And as the season progresses, Barkley will have even more responsibilities. Helped launch the “This is Where We Fan” program where you could potentially win a “Fan Giving” dinner. Courtyard Super Bowl sleepover competition.
“It’s definitely going to be a pretty unique experience,” Berkley said of the “Fungiving” dinner.
Barkley said he looks forward to the opportunity to give back to fans and engage with the community. That said, there are some cool features inside the building that big fans might not know about.
“I think it’s cool to walk into the locker room and see where it’s ready and where it’s ready. A place to take a cold bath and get your body ready,” he said.

“Then I think it’s probably the coach’s club where a lot of the fans go to see the games. You can literally see where they stand on the sidelines. I’ve been there a few times. It’s a really cool and unique space, a great environment to socialize, have a drink, watch a game and just have a good time.”
