The office of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to make a “significant” announcement Thursday morning, a spokesperson said.
On Wednesday night, DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Puchot took to Twitter to hint at the implications of the announcement, saying it would set off “the liberal media meltdown of the year.”
“Major announcement tomorrow morning from @GovRonDeSantis as we prepare for this year’s liberal media meltdown,” Puchot wrote. “Everyone should get some rest tonight.”
The governor of Florida is well liked by Republican voters, so some have quickly started speculating whether the announcement was about the 2024 presidential election.

DeSantis consistently tops polls for potential Republican candidates in 2024, usually right behind former President Donald Trump.
After a user mentioned DeSantis’ lead in an internal poll, Pushaw replied that the announcement would be official, not about his campaign.
In a separate tweet, Mr. Puchot confirmed that Mr. DeSantis is seeking re-election in Florida. The 2024 announcement is particularly early, and DeSantis will have to be held accountable to the Federal Election Commission between now and Election Day.

Another user asked if DeSantis would travel to Taiwan in light of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit to Taiwan.
“He’s focused on Florida as usual!” Pushot replied.
Several other users who commented said the decision could mean he’s officially joining Trump’s 2024 ticket as vice president, banning masks in Florida, a lawsuit against President Joe Biden, or that the U.S. I guessed it might have something to do with inheritance.
Many users expressed interest in knowing how the announcement would end up.
