Republicans on Sunday disparaged Democrats for passing a multi-billion dollar economic package and warned they would come back in November’s midterm elections.

“The Schumer-Manchin bill would drive up inflation and prices, hurt small businesses and American manufacturing, raise gas prices, and disrupt the IRS for Americans, while including those with incomes less than 100%. We will raise taxes for Americans in nearly every tax category, $400,000 a year,” Cruz said in a statement.
Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) called tax increases in both recession and inflation periods “a special kind of stupidity.”
“[T]This is what we call stagflation and what we have now as a result of President Biden’s policies,” Kennedy tweeted.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tn.) similarly warned Democrats to pass the bill during a recession or when inflation is at its highest level in 41 years.
“Taxes should be cut, not taxed,” Blackburn said in a Twitter thread. “It’s unfortunate that Senate Democrats have forced a socialist agenda that makes life harder and more expensive for Tennessees.”
