The Philadelphia Phillies are poised to bring back their superstar after throwing themselves into the postseason hunt.
Current National League MVP Bryce Harper will be active from the disabled list on Friday, interim manager Rob Thomson told reporters on Thursday.
Harper has been out since June when he was hit by a ball and broke his thumb.
Despite the injury, he recorded enough numbers to earn his seventh All-Star nod.

The 29-year-old is doing rehab duties in the Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He hit a home run in his first at-bat of rehab. He also hit a walk-off double on Wednesday night.
Harper is technically a designated hitter, which he did before his thumb injury. Hasn’t played on the field since April 16th.
The former Washington Nationals outfielder has been out since June 25, but the Phillies have been solid in his absence, going 31-20 in 51 games missed. The Phils have won 19 of their 26 games.

The Phils are in second place in the National League wild card slots, three games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers are trailing his spot in the third and final wild card to San Diego his Padres by 1.5 games behind him.

Harper won his second National League MVP last season. He won his 2015 as well. He led the majors last season with a .615 slugging percentage and 1.044 OPS, and a .429 on-base percentage and a .309 batting average.
