Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal deleted a tweet recalling the victims of 9/11, which was up most of Sunday, after accusing her of using death tolls involving terrorists by conservatives.
Jayapal deleted a post her account posted on Sunday, but the same one posted a year ago was still there as of Monday morning. Fox News reached out to her office for comment, but she did not immediately respond in time for publication.
“Today we remember the 2,996 people killed on 9/11, and all those who gave their lives for their country in the Eternal War that followed. Each with an image of the Twin Towers along with the phrase ‘Never Forget’. was included.
2,977 people were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks. His 2,996 figure that Jayapal tweeted adds to his 19 terrorists who died. It is not known where Jayapal got this figure from or why he used the number 2,996.

Google “how many people died on 9/11”. shows his 2,996 results, and the first in the search results for his website is a Wikipedia page with a preview that distinguishes between the number of victims and the total death toll, including perpetrators.
Conservatives were quick to comment on Jayapal’s tweet on Sunday.

Meghan McCain incredulously asked if Jayapal’s post was a “joke”.
A Facebook post on Sunday from Jayapal’s official account specifically used the number 2,977 instead of 2,996. The post was still up on Monday morning.
