Planned parenthood took some flak Social media Last week, it promoted a cartoon encouraging children to take hormone-blocking drugs if they feel confused about their gender.
The video was posted on the group’s YouTube channel earlier this year, but received renewed attention after the group Inside The Classroom reposted it on Twitter last week.
The video reminds viewers that it is perfectly natural to be confused about one’s gender identity and that hormone replacement therapy or surgery may be needed to adjust to one’s gender identity and “inner feelings about oneself”. I’m telling you that there may be people.
“If you’re transgender or nonbinary, you may find that your adolescent experience doesn’t align with your gender identity or how you see yourself,” says the narrator.

The video encourages puberty blockers to delay the onset of puberty and helps people understand what is right for them and their gender identity.
“And by retaining testosterone and estrogen, the hormones that trigger pubertal changes like facial hair growth and menstruation, it acts like a stop sign,” the video said, telling viewers, ” Encourage them to consult with a trusted adult and a nurse or doctor.
Twitter users also joined in criticizing what many see as misinformation.
“Why would a child or parent want to stop puberty?” wrote one Twitter user.
“Why is Planned Parenthood giving medical advice to children now? This should be illegal,” wrote another user, who responded:
“Besides all the lies and inaccuracies… please note that no parents are included,” wrote another.
