Matt Corral’s rookie season with the Carolina Panthers may be over before it really begins.
The Panthers’ third-round draft pick tore a ligament in his left leg and was expected to miss a significant amount of time, coach Matt Rule said. The third-year coach said Corral tore the Lisfranc ligament, but did not say whether the quarterback will miss the rest of the season.

Corral sustains an injury after being stepped on and is expected to require surgery. The Panthers traded him up in the 2022 draft, picking the former Ole his Miss Outstanding Player.

Corral had 3,349 passing yards and 20 touchdown passing in his final season with Ole Miss.
Rule said most, if not all, starters will have some action against the Buffalo Bills on Friday night.
