This is the team the San Diego Padres envisioned when they acquired Juan Soto, Josh Bell and Drury at the trade deadline last week.
Yes, they’ve lost five in a row, including last weekend’s three-game losing streak against rival Los Angeles Dodgers and a 26-inning scoreless upset. But when they came out of their slump, the Padres did it impressively, scoring 20 runs in a back-to-back win against the San Francisco Giants.
Brandon Drury got the green light for a 3-run homer in the sixth, and Austin Nola’s 2-run homer capped a 7-run rally — all with two outs — as the Padres thundered 13-7 against San Francisco. . Giants on Wednesday.

Soto, who helped the Nationals win the 2019 World Series, said returning to Washington “is going to be pretty emotional. I’m excited to be back and see them again.”
