Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry surprised the crowd at the British Open in the third round on Saturday.
Raleigh’s display on the Old Course in St Andrews took place on the 9th and 10th holes during the tournament, before McIlroy roared the crowd after the bunker shot.
Raleigh hit the ball roughly on the 9th hole. It was fast enough to get into the cup on the green. He raised his arm when celebrating the eagle. But he wasn’t over.

He drilled again for the Eagle on the 10th. He received great cheers from the gallery crowd when he celebrated the two shots.

McIlroy received his own cheers a little later.
He was in the bunker for a second shot on the 10th hole and somehow lifted the ball enough to fit in the green and eagle cups. At that point, he was in control of Viktor Hovland.
Raleigh finished the third round in a race for the lead. He had three birdies and four bogies during the round, but still shot 69. He was 7 under par in the tournament.

Until the end of Rory’s round, McIlroy was still competing for the lead with Hovland. Before the eagle, he had three birdies and saved par on the rest of the road.
