Washington Nationals star Juan Soto is reportedly rejecting a major contract extension offer from the team, and he appears to be testing the waters of free agents after the 2024 season.
Soto has two more years of arbitration left before becoming a free agent. The Nationals’ efforts to keep superstar extra-base hits on the team’s outfielders seem to be unsuccessful as one of their foundations.
Athletic reported on Saturday that a 23-year-old boy rejected a $ 440 million offer for 15 years, but did not include a postponement.
The report states that Soto will become a free agent shortly before the 26-year-old season and could issue $ 500 million in commands in the open market.

However, efforts to base Soto on their reconstruction have leveled off.
The deal doesn’t appear to be off the table, despite Scott Boras and general manager Mike Rizzo arguing against it.
An unnamed MLB team executive told ESPN in May that the Nationals could be “forced” and “motivated” to trade with Soto in the summer.
Borås Told the New York Post Frankly, “Forget the Soto trade … it won’t happen.” Rizzo added in a radio interview that the team had “every intention to build around Soto” and wasn’t thinking of dealing with him.

According to ESPN, Boras Corporation’s Soto and his agent have decided to decline a $ 350 million extension for 13 years during the off-season. He signed a one-year contract during the off-season of arbitration.
Saturday’s athletics wrote that “Juan Soto is available,” and the Nationals wrote that “entertain the offer” for young studs.
Trading a player like Soto will cost the team a lot of money.
On Saturday, Soto hit .247 with .895 OPS and 19 home runs. He was selected for the second All-Star game.
