The new MLB Home Run Derby was crowned Monday night at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Washington Nationals young Juan Soto defeated Seattle Mariners rookie Julio Rodríguez to win the title 19-18.
It was Soto’s first MLB Homelanderby title and did it in a dramatic way with a few seconds to spare. At 23 years and 266 days, he is the second youngest homelanderby champion.

Rodriguez knocked off Corey Seager in his first round of matchups 32-24. After that, he defeated Pete Alonso, a slugger of the New York Mets who participated in Derby as two defending champions. Rodriguez won the match 31-23.
Soto defeated Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez 18-17 and later knocked off Albert Pujols.
Pujols magically ran until the semi-finals. He was one of the surprises of the night, kicking out Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber in the first round.
Players celebrated Pujols after he made a swing, thinking Schwarber was a shoe-in for the semi-finals. However, it was Pujols who pulled it out with a victory.
Aaron Judge claims he wants to be with the Yankees “for a long time”
Pujols was then framed by Soto 16-15 in the semi-finals. It could be his last home run derby as he announced plans to retire from baseball at the end of the season.
Atlanta defeated Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. 20-19 in the first round, but resented Rodriguez in the semi-finals. Alonso sought to be the first three winners since Ken Griffey Jr.
After all, the future of sports was exhibited.
This year, 21-year-old Rodriguez won his first all-star selection in his first year. The ferocious outfielder hit 16 home runs, hitting .275 with .814 OPS in 91 games so far this season. He helped the Mariners ride the 14-game streak.
The All-Star game is coming to Seattle next season and Rodriguez has a chance to win it.
The 23-year-old Soto, who may not be able to compete in the Nationals by the trade deadline, already has a World Series ring and batting title. He is one of the brightest young stars in baseball.
He has 20 home runs and is hitting .25 with .901 OPS in 91 games.
