First fox: Republican Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland heads to the Iowa State Fair on Thursday. It’s part of a jam-packed two-day visit to a state where a half-century of caucus kicked off the presidential nominating calendar.
The Governor will introduce you to crime and law enforcement planning during this trip. Details of the proposal he first shared with Fox News the night before he arrived in Iowa.
Hogan will also be the first of the 2024 Republican presidential candidates to visit the State Fair, a long-running stop for White House candidates, in this cycle.
The limited-term governor’s visit to Iowa comes a month after the candidate he supported lost in Maryland’s Republican gubernatorial primary to a candidate favored by former President Donald Trump. The election campaign was framed in part as a proxy war between the former president and longtime Trump critic Hogan.
New Hampshire’s Hogan says Trump’s Republican unrest ‘decreased’
Kelly Schultz — a former state senator who served as Maryland’s secretary of labor and commerce during Hogan’s eight years as governor — is conservative state legislator Dan Cox — a Trump-backed anti-abortion candidate and former president strongly supported the unproven claims of – lost to. The 2020 presidential election was riddled with massive voter fraud and manipulation.
Political prognosticators saw Cox’s victory as a political loss for Hogan, who admitted in a Fox News interview prior to his trip to Iowa that “it may look like a temporary setback.”
But Hogan noted that the Democratic Governors Association spent about $2 million ahead of Maryland’s primary to run ads that backed Cox’s conservative credentials. The DGA considered Cox a weaker general election candidate than Schultz. This is because it aims to overthrow Maryland’s blue state governor’s office from Republican Democratic control.
Trump Overwhelms Hogan in Maryland Primary Proxy Battle
“It’s disappointing that the Democratic Governors Association colluded with Mr. Trump to support a madman in our state who has no chance of winning,” Hogan said.
But Hogan said, “I’ve been supporting candidates all over the country, people I think deserve public office. I’ve won five of the six gubernatorial elections we’ve been involved in.”
And noting that he stopped in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday to raise money to hold a law enforcement roundtable with Trump’s targeted but Republican Rep. Don Bacon, Hogan said: Attacked by President Trump. ”
Hogan told Fox News last month during a barnstorming trip through New Hampshire, which hosted its first presidential primary in a century and was the second-voting state on the nominating calendar after Iowa. There’s a way to win, there’s a lane, and I have a chance.”

But Hogan warned he wouldn’t be running just for the sake of it, stressing that “I’m not going on a wild goose chase or a suicide mission,” and remains firmly under Trump’s control. He sought nominations from political parties.
The former presidential candidate has repeatedly teased about making another presidential candidate who will try to take back the White House in 2024, hinting that an announcement will be made soon.
Asked Monday whether the FBI investigation into Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida would change the political dynamics of 2024, Hogan said, “What happened, what changed, what changed?” I don’t know if it’s true or not.
Hogan will flip pork chops at the Pork Tent with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds at Thursday’s State Fair.
But he also hosts a law enforcement roundtable with Rep. Randy Feenstra of Iowa to pay tribute to law enforcement at the Heroes Tent.
Hogan’s Conservative Achievements Spotlighted with Campaign-Style Ads
And he introduces the newly released Plan of Action for Safer Communities by Pro Hogan’s public advocacy group, An America United.
“Crime is one of the biggest concerns for people across the country,” Hogan stressed.
The proposal seeks refunds for police packages. Bringing federal prosecutors to areas where politicians and prosecutors have failed to do their jobs, and holding violent criminals to account by urging police brutality offenders to enforce the full law. Address the opioid crisis by increasing resources for drug prevention, treatment and recovery and by limiting the amount of opioids that can be prescribed. Secure the southern US border with Mexico by increasing resources.
Hogan said the plan is modeled after how he led Maryland during his two terms in office.
“We’ve been focused on this for eight years,” he said. And he said, “When all the talk about defunding the police started, I was one of the first American leaders to strongly oppose it.
He said his push to “refund the police” had “an overwhelming 80% to 90% support among black voters and inner-city voters. They agree.”

Mr. Hogan said elements of his new plan, and the inflation relief plan announced this summer, were “not just some crazy idea, they’re what we did. Paid, cut eight taxes, and have been doing so for years.”
And Hogan, who sounds like a very likely presidential candidate, stressed: About some of these issues.
