Cordarrelle Patterson rushed for a career-high 141 yards and one touchdown, Marcus Mariota threw a 14-yard touchdown to rookie Drake London in the second half, and the Atlanta Falcons beat the Seattle Seahawks to 27. -2 to get his first win of the season. 23:00 on Sunday.
Patterson gained 107 yards in the second half and the Falcons were able to avoid a 0–3 start for the second time in three seasons. Mariota used the passing game to gain tons of yards in the first half, and Patterson made big plays in the run game.

Patterson hit a career-best 120 yards in the season opener against New Orleans and was on top just two weeks later. His 17-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Atlanta a 17–10 lead.
Mariota had 13 of 20 passes for 223 yards, and a touchdown throw to London late in the third quarter put Atlanta outright ahead. London had only three catches for 54 yards, while Kyle Pitt had five receptions for 87 yards.
Seattle quarterback Jenno Smith threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted by Richie Grant for a desperate 4 and 18 from the Atlanta 38 with 1:30 remaining. . It was Smith’s fourth career over 300 yards and his first since the 2014 season.
Smith threw his first touchdowns of the season to DK Metcalfe and Will Disley.
The Seahawks also call into question the decision to kick a 25-yard field goal from Jason Myers late in the third quarter when Seattle went 4–1 at the Atlanta 7.

Atlanta looked poised for a clinch score midway through the fourth quarter when a Mariota mistake gave Seattle a chance.
Mariota and Tyson Allegier mishandled an exchanged handoff that failed with 5:12 remaining. Seattle’s Uchenna Nwosu jumped on a loose ball and Seattle had a chance to drive the winning touchdown.
Smith made several key throws to lead Seattle to the Atlanta 24. Damien Lewis’ keyholding penalty erased a screened his pass to Rashard his penny that put the Seahawks in the Atlanta 10. His fourth down pass to Tyler Rocket was knocked down and picked up by Grant.
Drone delay?
The game was suspended for about five minutes with 6:42 remaining in the fourth quarter, apparently due to drones flying around Lumenfield. Players were sent to the sidelines before the game resumed.
A drone also flew during the Washington-Stanford game on Saturday night, causing a slight delay.

With Artie Barnes, Sidney Jones and Justin Coleman all inactive, Seattle were without their top three cornerbacks. Barnes was recovering from a groin injury, but neither he nor Jones had an injury designation in the final injury report for the week. Coleman was sidelined last week with a calf injury.
Seattle also lost a backup running back, and the special teams featured Travis Homer on the first possession of the game. Homer had a 7-yard carry but suffered a rib injury and was ruled out.
