Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, who is known for not always following Democratic leaders, said Sunday whether he will endorse President Biden in 2024, or even want the Democrats to succeed in 2022. Refused to declare what.
Manchin, who appeared on several political shows on Sunday, was pressed about whether he would stand with fellow Democrats.
“If he ran for office in 2024, would you support him?” host Brett Byer asked on “Fox News Sunday,” referring to Biden.
“I’m not going to run for the 2024 election,” Manchin said.
Manchin won’t commit to endorse Biden in 2024: ‘We’ll just have to wait and see’
Byer then asked if Manchin himself has discussed running for the 2024 race.
“I’m not going into 2024,” he repeated. “There will be a lot of politics in the future.”
It is the second time in recent days that Manchin has refused to endorse the president’s re-election. In his interview online with Chris Cuomo, Manchin said “we’ll have to wait and see” who he’ll endorse in 2024, depending on which party he’s running for.
On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” host Chuck Todd asked whether Manchin wanted Democrats to retain control of the House and Senate in November’s election.
“I think people are sick of politics, Chuck,” Manchin replied. “It’s true.”
Final countdown: 100 days to midterm elections
Todd then repeated the question. Manchin came on the verge of endorsing his fellow Democrats, then quit.
“Oh, I like it too–” he said and paused. “As you know, I didn’t make that choice or decision,” he said.
Mr. Manchin went on to say that he can work with both parties, that “the Democrats have good candidates running for office,” and that he has “great respect” for his Republican colleagues.
Todd again asked if Manchin really cared what happened in November.

“No matter what voters choose, we can’t decide what happens in Kansas or California or Texas. We really can’t,” Manchin said.
“I’ve always said that no matter who you send, it’s your agent and I respect them,” Manchin continued. I do my best to respect the states and work with them to do what’s best for my country.I don’t play politics that way.I don’t like it.It’s not me. .”
