The family of the girl who was seriously injured in a car accident involving former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reed has slammed a plea bargain after he pleaded guilty Monday to a DUI felony that seriously injured him.
Reed was set to go on trial later this month and was facing up to seven years in prison until a deal was struck. You could face a year’s imprisonment. His sentencing is scheduled for October 28th.

Ariel Young, then 5, was seriously injured when Reed’s pickup truck crashed into two parked cars on an interstate entrance ramp in Missouri. The crash occurred the day before the Chiefs left for Tampa, Florida for Super Bowl LV.
Investigators said Reed was intoxicated and driving about 84 mph when his truck crashed into a car near Arrowhead Stadium.
Ariel is traumatized. She was one of her five people injured in the crash.

Ariel’s family attorney, Tom Porte, said, “The five victims of this crime are outraged that the prosecution’s attorneys are not asking for the maximum sentence allowed by law.” The act left a five-year-old girl in a coma and seriously injured three others.”
One of the cars Reed crashed stalled due to a dead battery, and the second was owned by Ariel’s mother who rushed to the scene. The Chiefs reached a confidential settlement with Ariel’s family last year over the payment of ongoing medical and other costs.
