Texas A&M’s play call in the last few seconds against Alabama drew ire from Aggies fans and alumni, including Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Aggies quarterback Haynes King was looking for the end zone with three seconds left in the game when he threw an incomplete pass to Evan Stewart well short of the goal line. The game ended with Alabama winning 24–20, and the Crimson his tide sidestepped his second tight game of the season.
Former Texas A&M star quarterback Manziel ripped the final play in a series of tweets.

“One of the worst calls I’ve ever seen in my life. It takes one play to beat the #1 team in the country. That’s what we do,” he wrote in one tweet. I am writing.
“Every practice, there’s a goal line period and we practice in situations like this. It’s an Aggies ending joke.
“I never thought I could hang out with Bama for the entire game…Once I got in that position to win in one play…drop the sack and go kill!”

Texas A&M had Alabama on the ropes the entire game. King had two touchdown passes – one to Moose Mohammed III and another to Donovan Green. Stewart led the Aggies with eight catches for 106 yards.
Both teams were playing backup quarterbacks after Alabama’s Bryce Young was injured in last week’s game.
Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fischer said, “Backup quarterbacks are also playing. “Two great teams stuck together, fought and worked it out, and we showed what we could do.”
Jalen Milroe filled in for Young in the game. He went his 12-for-19 with 111 passing yards and he had three touchdown passes (one to Jermaine Burton, one to Jacory Brooks, and one to Cameron Ratu).
