The Philadelphia Phillies are two wins away from their first World Series since 2009.
They took a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series with a 4-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.
It was Philly’s first home game in the NLCS in 12 years.

Joe Musgrove gave the Citizens Bank Park fans an early recovery by allowing a leadoff home run to Kyle Schwarber. He then allowed back-to-back walks, but Bryce Harper grounded on a double play and Nick Castellanos scored the Padres on a grounding. from serious trouble.
San Diego had their first real threat in the 4th inning as they had runners on 1 and 3 with 1 out. Jake Cronenworth hit a regular double play ball, but Jean Segura completely dropped the toss at second base. Instead of finishing the inning unscathed, the game was tied at 1.
Segura had a chance for revenge late in the inning, coming to the plate with runners on the second and third and two outs, and he got it.
He dunked a bloop single into shallow right center field to give the Phillies a 3–1 lead and a mighty bat slam. He also stole a base hit off Ha-sung Kim in the seventh inning that ended the inning, not two men on the bases of Juan Soto.

Trent Grisham reached second base on an error as the first batter in the fifth inning, and scored on a groundout two hitters later.
Ranger Suarez allowed three strikeouts, no walks, two hits and two runs (one earned run) in five innings. The first man out of the pen was Zach He was Ephrin and in the sixth inning he put a runner in the corner with one out but Josh his bell ended the threat with his 4-6-3 double play .
With two outs in the sixth, Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm hit back-to-back doubles, the latter giving the Phillies a 4-2 lead. That’s the end of his Musgrove night, and he’s down to 5.2 frames. He allowed his 4 runs on his 8th hit and walked 2 to 5.
The Padres got the leadoff man in the ninth inning to bring the tying run to the plate, but Jurrickson Plofer failed to check his swing (Cole could have gone either way) and Grisham popped out and Austin Nora struck out to end the game.
Seranthony Dominguez made the 6-out save. It’s the first time the Phillies have recorded his save with six outs in the postseason since Tug McGraw’s victory in his 1980 Worlds series, just 42 years before him. He has struck out 13 of his 22 hitters this postseason, and has struck out at least two of his in five appearances.
