Three weeks after crushing his key challenger, who was heavily favored by former President Donald Trump, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp supported Trump in next week’s Republican preliminary elections in the state’s 10th Congress district. I support the candidate’s opponents.
Kemp supported truck company owner Collins on Thursday and said he was “proud to support Mike Collins” when he faced Vernon Jones next Tuesday. Former state legislators and Democrats have become Republicans, who were Trump’s top black surrogate in Georgia in the 2020 elections, and have the support of the former president.
“As a conservative small businessman, Kemp directly knows how the Biden administration’s dire policies are hurting hard-working Georgians and communities throughout the state. Mike is the first constitutional amendment. I strongly agree with Article 2. Georgians are the first in Congress. “
“We will vote for Mike Collins in the Republican final vote on June 21, and we will invite Republicans throughout the district to join us to send credible conservatives to Washington.” I did.
Kemp crushes Purdue with Trump’s retreat in Georgia primary
In response to this news, Jones responded, “Through my political career, I’ve never been a founding favorite. It’s proud and not embarrassing, and it’s exactly President Trump’s support for me. That’s why. I’m not running for Congress. To participate in the establishment. I’m running Congress to destroy it. “

Collins outperformed Jones by 26% to 22% in multiple candidate constituencies in Georgia’s May 24 primary, but neither was close to winning a majority of votes, so June 21. Headed for the day’s election. Collins has already gained the support of other Republican candidates who couldn’t move forward. The winner of the November general election will replace Republican Rep. Jody Hice, who failed the Georgia Secretary of State’s campaign, rather than seeking reelection.
Kemp surpassed former Senator David Perdue by more than 50 points in last month’s Republican primary. This was a devastating defeat for Trump.
Four years ago, with the support of the then president, Kemp barely defeated Democratic Stacey Abrams. However, Kemp gained Trump’s anger after proving the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, following two recounts of votes. Last year, Trump repeatedly urged Perdue to take on the governor’s primary challenge, approving him the day after former Senator announced his bid in December. Trump blamed Kemp at two rallies in Georgia last fall and this spring, and plundered the governor in a commercial for the Purdue campaign.
Purdue jumped into Race Day after Abrams, a Democratic rising star and defender of nationally known voter rights, launched her second consecutive governor bid. Abrams has not been opposed in the Democratic primary and she will face Kemp in a rematch in November.
“This is definitely Kemp’s revenge tour,” a Georgia-based Republican consultant claimed to have asked to remain anonymous in order to speak more freely.

The consultant pointed out Kemp’s impressive victory, and the governor said, “Let the scoreboard talk, this time the scoreboard, doubling a conservative brand that is clearly stronger than Georgia’s Donald Trump. I have. “
Purdue wasn’t the only well-known Trump-supporting candidate to lose in the Georgia primary. Trump also lost to Secretary of State Brad Rafence, who had repeatedly attacked, with a two-digit number. And Trump-backed Republican Attorney General John Gordon was demolished by incumbent Chris Karr.
Kemp won the 10th parliamentary district in last month’s primary with an even larger margin than the state-wide margin. Certainly the red district extends from the eastern exurbs of Atlanta through the eastern rural areas to the outskirts of August and the South Carolina border.
The Collins team told Fox News that Kemp is likely to join Collins on the campaign trail for a few days prior to Tuesday’s primary.
Jones originally ran for governor in this cycle, hoping that Kemp would land Trump’s support in the primary. However, after he approved Purdue, the former president persuaded Jones to close his governor’s bid and instead run for a seat in Heiss’s vacant parliament. Trump approved Jones when he started bidding on his home.

Trump once again praised Jones in a recorded Robocall this week, saying, “He will never let you down.”
He blamed Collins’ campaign for recent attacks on Jones and called them “untrue and malicious political ads.”
