East Tennessee hired Brenda Mock-Brown as the Buccaneers’ new women’s basketball coach on Monday, a week after Simon Harris announced he was fired in his lone season over Title IX issues.
Interim athletic director Richard Sander announced Brown’s new role at a press conference on Monday.

Brown is the 10th coach in the program’s history. From 2012 to 2020 she headed the Women’s Basketball Program at UNC She coached the Bulldogs from 2015 to 2019 Back-to-back postseason she led to Bath and Big She won back-to-back South tournaments.
She was also named Big South Coach of the Year for the 2015-16 season, overseeing the biggest turnaround season in Division I, going 9-22 to 26-7.

Thunder was appointed interim athletic director on Aug. 1, after AD Scott Carter stepped down. ETSU also announced that it will place Harris on a paid suspension until his August 15th, when Harris’s dismissal becomes official. An investigation was launched this spring after two former players complained of discrimination and mistreatment.
For the past two years, Brown has worked for Global Sports and Events and as a consultant for Inkwell Sports Solutions.

She has also been an assistant coach at Florida, Charlotte, Jacksonville, and Georgia Tech. Brown played for Wake Her Forest and was captain twice.
